Qld: Hundred-plus club members feted at parly
Members of one of Queensland's most exclusive clubs were feted at state parliament today.
Premier PETER BEATTIE's hosted a lunch for 35 members of the 100-plus club, open only
to those Queenslanders who've celebrated their 100th birthday.
Two of the most prominent members of the club are World War One veterans TED SMOUT
and ERIC ABRAHAMS.
Mr SMOUT, who was named one of five Queensland Greats in June, was philosophical about
being invited to the lunch, saying it's a funny thing to be famous for being old.
