Teenager found guilty of drug smuggling.

A 16-year-old boy has been sentenced to two years imprisonment for attempting to smuggle drugs into Europe.

A judge in Suriname passed the sentence after the teenager was arrested at an airport in Suriname on 17 March 2003. The boy was preparing to board a flight to the Netherlands when it was discovered that he had swallowed 88 cocaine-filled balloons.

According to The Associated Press, the boy had been carrying a total of 725 grams of cocaine.
